Early 20th century English Ironstone oyster plate in white by Arthur Wilkinson at Royal Staffordshire Pottery. The style of the stamp on the bottom of the plate indicates this was produced around 1910.
This plate is a traditional example of English Ironstone that became popular in the Victorian era, when new methods were devised to produce ceramics, some that looked similar to Italian Majolica like this one, more efficiently and therefore made them more affordable and able to be enjoyed by the middle class, who bought them en masse!
This oyster plate is in great condition with no chips on the surface. There are hairline cracks under the glaze that are consistent with age, but the surface of the plate is smooth.
