The frame is in original condition and has sustained some wear and damage. Based on the label on the back it is likely original to the piece, and if not original, was made relatively soon after the painting was completed. The label also tells us this painting has most likely lived all of its life to date in or around Brussels, as the framemaker was located in the city.
