Marion Bronze Red Drum Bookends
Marion Bronze Red Drum Bookends
These guys are definite statement pieces - the photos do not do the colors justice! They are heavy and the details are just gorgeous. The bookends have a drum motif and a patriotic crest with an eagle and banner engraved with E Plurbus Unum. They have an engraved lattice pattern on the flat side with MB engraved in the lower lefthand corner. I’m picturing these in a study or little boy’s room, then brought out to a higher visibility area for a Little Drummer Boy vignette at Christmastime.
The Marion Bronze Company was founded by Arthur and Marion France in 1921. The couple created bronze bookends, lamps, candlesticks, mirrors, and other decor in a production facility behind their home in New Jersey. The couple operated the company until they retired and sold it in 1958.
The bookends are in good vintage condition. One bookend has light chipping on the inside-facing top edge, and a few light tarnish spots on the flat sides.
