Sadly this was the only alabaster piece available in the ‘antichita’ store I visited in Spello. I would have purchased every piece they had! I believe this piece was originally meant to resemble a miniature bird bath, as you’ll see four small holes around the rim where I think little birds on pegs would go. I actually prefer it without those, and love using a piece like this to hold a candle or matches. I love that this one has a nearly white tone, making it (in my view) more versatile than, say, alabaster pieces with more orangey tones.
