I adore the vibrant yet peaceful greens and blues in this miniature. The more arid landscape depicted in the picture makes it a bit unique as well. I like to think the people in this painting are two couples passing the heat of the day by a cool pond or river (let me tell you - the heat of the day in an Italian summer is nothing to be joked about!). I wonder what debates ensued to determine who got to ride the lone horse available for the journey back to the village.
